Doctor fish is also known as Garra Rufa or Kangal Fish. Originate from Turkey, about 9-12cm, live in waters between 15oC-28oC. Surprising, they can also live in waters as high as 37oC. Generally feed on algae at the bottom of the river beds and microscopic organisms. These are a much researched species of fish in Turkey and believed to aid in healing of skin diseases like Psoriasis. These fishes simultaneously releases some unknown enzymatic secretion and dithranol, a component of dermatological creams to enhance the skin condition by normalizing its pH and helps new skin cells regenerate a little faster than usual.
These fishes nibble on your dead skin cells by scrapping their tiny mouths against your skin, sort of exfoliation, the natural way... one side effect it also tickled you funny bones!I've never hold a live fish before and now I have to put my feet into a pool for fishes to feed on. Its definitely a challenge for me. Ticklish initially and soon bearable.
Its was a mental struggle to put my feet in.
Did not realise upapa took video clip of me below... and you will hear him "scolding" me & me screaming....
It took me almost 10mins to put my feets in....
